William Chua

William is Chairman of Goldbell Group, Chua Chuan Leong Group of Companies and owner of Goldbell Towers, a 19-storey commercial building at 47 Scotts Road, located at the fringe of Orchard Road.

He has over 40 years of experience in the industrial vehicle space, encompassing material handling equipment and commercial vehicles. In 1980, William established Goldbell Engineering Pte Ltd, a multi-franchise distribution conglomerate. To date, Goldbell Group represents a range of vehicles. These include Mitsubishi Fuso Trucks and Buses, Airman Compressors, Fiat Professional light-duty trucks, Iveco heavy-duty trucks, Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks, STILL forklift and Nichiyu Electric Trucks.

Embodying the entrepreneurial spirit, William ventured into the leasing of commercial vehicles and material handling equipment in 1990, and further expanded the business to include the leasing of passenger and specialised vehicles as well as aviation ground support equipment.

Under his leadership, Goldbell Group has become the leader in the distribution and leasing of commercial vehicles, with operations in Vietnam, Malaysia and Australia.

Community and Social Services

For his contribution to public service, William was awarded the Public Service Medal (Pingat Bakti Masyarakat) by the Government of Singapore as well as the Long Service Medal and Certificate of Appreciation by the People’s Association.

He was also key sponsor for the construction of Poh Ming Tse Temple, a Buddhist temple located at 438 Dunearn Road.  The new architecture and facilities of Poh Ming Tse Temple aim to meet the growing needs of contemporary Singapore society, while retaining the Temple’s Chinese cultural roots.  In many ways, the Temple is a conscious adaptation of both modern design and traditional Chinese temple influence.

His most recent initiative is establishing Goldbell Foundation. This is an initiative to further enhance the Group’s social responsibility for the wider community and provide employees an opportunity to experience the value of giving.
