As environmental concerns continue to shape our modern world, this lecture invites participants to reflect on how Buddhist thought and practice can offer wisdom for ecological responsibility and compassionate action.
Prof. Xue Yu will share insights on the intersections between Buddhism, society, ethics, and ecology, drawing from his extensive scholarship in Mahāyāna and Chinese Buddhism, as well as Humanistic Buddhism.
This lecture is suitable for both newcomers and practitioners who wish to better understand how Buddhist teachings can inspire care for the environment and all living beings.
Prof. Xue Yu is a distinguished scholar of Buddhism and humanistic Buddhist thought. He is currently a Research Fellow in the Department of Cultural and Religious Studies at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
His research spans Mahāyāna and Chinese Buddhism, the history and theology of Humanistic Buddhism, and the intersections of religion with society and ethics.
