About the Lecture

In our fast-paced world, many of us experience physical tension, emotional stress, and mental restlessness. Buddhist practice offers timeless methods for calming the body while nurturing a compassionate and resilient heart.

In this lecture, Dr. Hun Lye will explore how Buddhist teachings and contemplative practices can help us develop greater balance, mindfulness, and emotional well-being. Drawing from the rich Buddhist tradition, he will share practical insights into caring for both body and mind, allowing us to respond to life’s challenges with greater clarity, compassion, and wisdom.

Whether you are new to Buddhism or an experienced practitioner, this talk offers meaningful reflections and practical guidance for cultivating a healthier, more grounded way of living.

About the Speaker

Dr. Hun Lye grew up in a Buddhist family in Malaysia and has studied and practised Buddhism from a young age across various traditions. He earned his PhD in Buddhist Studies from the University of Virginia and taught for a decade in the United States before dedicating himself full-time to Dharma work.

In 2013, he was appointed a Dorjé Lopön (vajra master) of the Drikung Kagyü lineage by His Holiness Drikung Kyabgön Chetsang Rinpoche and was formally enthroned in Penang, Malaysia. He is currently the founder and spiritual director of Urban Dharma in Asheville, North Carolina, and teaches internationally.
